SUMMARY:Strade Bianche Rouleur Challenge 100K
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis is the opening weekend of our “Strade Bianche Rouleur Challenge”. We celebrate the history of our sport by riding the “white roads” in North Western Illinois. \nCompletion of this ride will count for the new RUSA Rouleur award! \nWe’ll start later than normal (10:00) so you can drive to the start on the morning of the ride. After the ride we’ll have an informal gathering for dinner and beverages where we can review the days activities (also known as “talk about how great we are”) and discuss the next days ride. \nThe route will start and finish in Stockton\, Il. This is a relatively easy gravel route but 28mm tires or greater are recommended for easier negotiation of the gravel sections. Roughly 23% of the route is on gravel including some gravelly climbs so we’ll get the full experience. We’ll be using the RUSA “gravel timer” to account for the somewhat slower pace on the gravel segments. \nThere are ample stops to refuel and refresh water bottles along the route including an optional stop at the Pecatonia Tap House in Warren if you’re so inclined. \nThis is a RUSA sanctioned event and riders who complete the route will get credit for 36K of gravel which will count toward other gravel related RUSA awards under development. \nThe ridewithgps route is here. \nThis is going to be a fun weekend of riding and you won’t want to miss it! \nMany thanks to our “Executive Vice President for Unpaved Excursions” – Dawn Piech for her work on the route! \nTo register for this event complete the registration form below. DESCRIPTION:  \nThis is the second ride in our gravel Rouleur series and we’ll start early so those of you who come from afar will be able to finish the ride before driving home. \nCompletion of this ride will count toward the new RUSA Rouleur award! \nThe ride will start and finish in Stockton\, Il. This route is considerably tougher than our 100K route and includes more gravel sections with just about half of the route on gravel. The route includes several steep climbs and descents on gravel so wider tires (32mm or greater) and good brakes are a must. \nThis is a RUSA sanctioned event and riders who complete the route will get credit for 60K of gravel which will count toward other gravel related RUSA awards under development. \nThe route is 81 miles\, 37 of which is gravel\, 5\,820 feet of climbing.
